BlogLines: a web-based blog reader!

I’d been searching for a little while for the right program to use on my Windows PC for reading other blog entries through RSS feeds.

Then I found out about BlogLines, which is a free web-based blog reader. Just sign up for an account, log in, and give the site the addresses of the feeds you want to subscribe to. I believe this is better than a downloadable program, since you can check your blog subscriptions easily from any computer with internet access!

The site has downloadable “New Entry Notification” programs for various operating systems, which will periodically query the site for updates to the feeds you are subscribed to, and notify you if there are any.

Even better than a notification program is the Firefox plugin available on the site! Install the plugin, and Firefox will have the ability to check for updates for you! You just have to tell it your username on BlogLines, and it will (same as with the seperate programs) periodically check for updates for you. Since I use Firefox most of the time now, this is very convenient for me!

A bonus from the plugin is that you can right-click on any page you want to subscribe to, and Firefox will check for a feed for that site, and if you wish, add it to your BlogLines account for you!

I’m starting to really get into reading other blogs now, and this extra feature for Firefox is soooo useful!
