Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Well, I saw the new Star Wars movie today, and I thought it was very good. It seemed to me that there was a higher ratio of drama vs action moments in this movie then there were in the last two movies. Anakin spends a lot of time struggling with his emotions and desires which of course leads him to the dark side. There do seem to be fewer personal moments with Padme, but more with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda.

The movie is a decent length at 2 hours and 20 minutes, but there were parts that seemed to drag a little. Not so much at the end, but there were moments where I started wondering when the plot would move along.

Having watched the original trilogy numerous times, I found that this movie really reminded me of Episode IV: A New Hope. Which makes sense, of course, since this movie precedes the next one. But, without giving anything away, I learned some things about how certain parts of Episode IV were the way they were.

Quite possibly the most interesting parts of the movie centered on Palpatine’s rise to power and Anakin’s slip to the dark side. There were some scenes in there that I enjoyed watching, because they gave me insight into how things became the way they were in the later episodes.

All in all, I feel Revenge of the Sith does a good job of joining the first trilogy with the second, and answered numerous questions in my head from watching all the other movies.
