Leisure
I enjoy numerous hobbies and activities. Perhaps somewhat surprisingly, they include web development and programming, despite doing that for a living!
Reading
I have always liked to read. I used to spend many a late hour sitting up in bed reading a good book. I don’t these days, since I might have trouble getting to work in the morning! I especially like science fiction novels, but I also enjoy mystery, historical novels, and some fantasy. Some of my favorite authors include Tom Clancy, John Grisham, Clive Cussler, Terry Goodkind, and J.R.R. Tolkien.
Drawing
I have also always had a bit of an artistic inclination, particularly towards doing the occasional sketch or drawing. I like to do landscape sketches, mainly of beaches, forests, and gardens.
Photography
I have an amateur interest in photography, but could turn it into a really good hobby for years to come. I got really interested in photography in Summer 2004, after I bought and started using a digital camera. Being able to preview my pictures, check them after the fact, and easily transfer them to my computer are some of the most attractive reasons for using digital cameras (in my opinion, naturally). Like drawing, I especially like landscape pictures, particularly beaches, mountains, and gardens. I also like to take pictures of some of the local wildlife.
I have a gallery of photos I have taken, so feel free to have a look!
Gaming
I am a bit of a gamer, although certainly not the hardcore type. I like to play a few different games on the PC, including Heroes of Might and Magic, Warcraft, and Starcraft.
I also still like to play Super Nintendo. Yes it’s old, but it has a large selection of excellent games, some of which I enjoy playing now and then, with some nostalgia on the side. I particuarly like Donkey Kong Country, Mega Man X, Breath of Fire, and Super Mario World.
Web Development
I actually like to spend some of my spare time experimenting with various web technologies. I do it for practice, and also to get experience with those technologies I want to learn in-depth - this includes PHP, Perl, and ASP.Net. I also like to play with CSS to see what designs or themes I can come up with.
Incidentally, I happen to have another website. It is an informational website for the PC game series, Heroes of Might and Magic. Ironically, it was playing this series that I got interested in computers: I wanted to make my own website for the first game, since there weren’t many of them out there. I became interested in HTML, then went on to learn about graphics, CSS, and JavaScript. After that, I wound up getting hooked on computers in general. If you’re interested in the site, here it is.
